Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough.
If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered.
There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get.
Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get. Look for value for money. Make sure you are aware some properties do want their money days before you arrive and not on arrival. Stay central to access in walking distance to businesses.
Look up parking, locations etc before trekking out.
We had a fantastic experience during our stay at this hotel in Launceston. The prime location, just a short stroll away from the city centre, cafe's and restaurants, made exploring and enjoying the local attractions incredibly convenient. The staff at the hotel were not only welcoming but also highly professional, catering to our needs with a genuine warmth that added a personal touch to our stay. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Launceston.
This is a great place to stay for a couple of days in Launceston. It’s located on the edge of the CBD, close to the stunningly beautiful Cataract Gorge. The hotel is adjacent to the slightly eccentric Pennyroyal visitor attraction which means it has the benefit of a few places to eat and drink that a hotel in this type of location wouldn’t normally have. My room had clearly been recently renovated and was spotlessly clean.
Amazing accommodations in the center of Launceston. Super spacious apartment with all major attractions walkable. We loved the decor especially the world atlas in the dining room and comics. We spent 2 nights here but 1 week would have been better based on how we loved Launceston and the accommodations. Bonus for the secure private parking space. Mal was easy to communicate with and super friendly. Thanks!
A gorgeous hotel situated in the CBD. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Bedding was so nice and comfortable sheets... not those rigid hotel sheets. Exceptional quality linen. Quiet location. We are heading back Anzac day weekend and looking forward to staying there again. This will be our go to accommodation in Launceston.
The staff at Balmoral were incredible, always very welcoming and on hand to assist. I had a later check in upon arrival and this was no issue - and each morning they were there to assist with the breakfast - which as a bonus inclusion - as well as any requests. The rooms were neat and tidy and location is perfectly within the Launceston CBD.
A very comfortable room in great surroundings. There is no driving range at present because there is construction work being carried out. That didn't take away from the stay because the facilities there were excellent. It is quiet and not far from the airport or from Launceston itself. We would definitely stay there again.
Second visit this month - this time to catch an early flight out of Launceston. Flight was cancelled but hotel staff eased the pain with a quick reassurance that they could accommodate us a further night. Trip to airport the following morning was simple and straight forward. Location perfect for such a situation.
It is less 'hotel' and more self contained apartment accommodation. In saying that, it was a lovely stay however after previously staying at Peppers Silo in Launceston, it is definitely not as luxurious.
I do want to thank Cathy for going above and beyond during our stay always happy and smiling too!
The breakfast was very good. The foyer had lots of seating if you had to wait for a while. The room we had was very spacious and comfortable.
The location of the hotel was excellent. It is very close to the City Park, Launceston's Botanic Gardens where you can see a troupe of Japanese macaque monkeys.
Absolutely great location and property. The manager upgraded our room to a villa. He was also very helpful and gave us a lot of tips on how to go around Launceston. It is a beautiful place. We would love to return back and spend a few more days in the future.
The staff are awesome! Very friendly and helpful. Hotel is new, with nice modern design and very clean. The pillows and bed are very comfortable. Priced reasonably. Will be staying again here when I go back to Launceston.
Highly recommended!
The change hotel was a superb place to stay in Launceston. Central and close to everything. We did not have a vehicle and walked just about everywhere. Also liked that we could call the staff to assist with a later check out.
The location was decent, however with the landscape of Launceston, it was a very very steep climb back up. Room was spacious but the hotel doesn't have lifts being an old building so you have to carry the bags up and down.
This is a clean, well-presented hotel with good amenity. Overall, reasonably well located to the wharf precinct in Launceston however a little less convenient to the heart of the CBD.
